How to cook Bang Bang Chicken with sauce
Bang bang chicken - Also known as Bon Bon Chicken, is made with sesame paste and rice vinegar.Bang Bang chicken is a popular street vendor’s dish from the sichuan region of China. The name comes from the pounding of the chicken, which is both tenderized and shredded with a heavy wooden stick called a bon, hence its alternative name of bon-bon chicken. Like much chinese street cuisine, it is speedy and simple.
This Chinese street cuisine is a quick and easy lunchtime choice. The sprinkling of sesame seeds enhance the taste as well as giving it an authentic sichuan appeal.In the original version, the chicken is simply simmered and then pounded into shreds. While it cooks, the characteristic nutty flavored sauce is made by softening sesame paste with a little of the cooking broth and then blending in Chinese sesame oil, soy, rice vinegar, chili oil, and a touch of sugar. Savory sesame paste is strong, beautifully aromatic and much used in Szechuan cooking. However, many recipes substitute either tahini or smooth peanut butter, in which case extra sesame oil should be added to intensify the flavor-Chinese sesame oil is much more pungent than the Middle Eastern variety.
Ingredients for Bang Bang Chicken
300 g chicken , pre-cooked (roasted, smoked, or poached), no bones
½ a red onion , sliced
1 tbsp sesame seeds
a few sprigs of mint
a few sprigs of coriander
1 carrot , peeled, and sliced into thin strips
Ingredients for bang bang sauce:
1 cutting board
6 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1 ½ tbsp sweet chili sauce
5 tbsp sesame seed oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar

Place a saucepan, 3/4 full of water, over a medium heat and bring it to a simmer. Put a bowl on top of the saucepan and spoon in the peanut butter. Allow it to warm through and melt. Whisk it a little to help along the process. When melted, add in the chili sauce, soy sauce and rice vinegar. Add the oil, little by little and thoroughly combine with your whisk. Once incorporated, remove the bowl from heat.Done,Put aside for a while then.
How to cook Bang Bang Chicken
1,With a large knife, cut the cooked chicken into bite-size morsels.
2,Assemble the dish
Decorate a serving plate with the lettuce leaves. Then sprinkle on the carrots and the onions. Arrange the chicken on top and drizzle over the sauce. Garnish with the coriander, mint and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
